54 arrests, 600 grams of narcotics seized in one day in SF’s Tenderloin District

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A one-day, multi-agency law enforcement operation resulted in 54 arrests and 600 grams of narcotics seized in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District on Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Police Department. 

“Illegal activity will not be tolerated in and around the Tenderloin. We will be out in force making arrests for as long as it takes,” San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said. “I want to thank our hard-working officers and our city partners for their commitment to this effort.”

According to SFPD, 34 out of the 54 arrests were wanted fugitives. Officers arrested eight suspects for possession of sales of illegal narcotics, police said. According to SFPD, many arrests were related to possession of controlled substances, and possession of stolen property.

The operation included SFPD officers from the Narcotics Unit, Narcotics Drug Recognition Expert Team, Tenderloin Station Patrol/Violence Reduction Team, Tenderloin Plainclothes Team and the Fugitive Recovery Enforcement Team.

The Department of Parking and Traffic, Public Works, and Healthy Streets Operation Center were instrumental in this operation, according to SFPD. The agencies assisted in providing shelter to people in need,  issuing parking citations, towed vehicles and impounding illegal food vending carts.
