BBC Breakfast in major hosting shake up as two huge stars are replaced in the studio

BBC Breakfast underwent a hosting shake-up as TWO of the programme’s regular stars went missing.

Fans tuned in this morning expecting to see Jon Kay, 54 and Sally Nugent, 52 on the iconic red sofa.

But instead they got Nina Warhurst, 43, who was joined by Ben Thompson, 43.

Jon and Sally were nowhere to be seen due to the Bank holiday shakeup.

Usually, the pair host BBC Breakfast together from Monday to Wednesday.

Then, Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty fill the role on Thursday-Saturday.

While no reason was given, viewers seemed to catch on quickly as to why Jon and Sally weren’t in this morning.

BBC Breakfast fans couldn’t resist pointing out that the iconic duo were missing.

Taking to X/Twitter, one wrote: “No Jon and Sally this morning, Bank holiday for them.”

A second who was delighted to see Nina back presenting, said: “Nice to see Nina back presenting, what a beautiful smile.”

BBC News’ biggest blunders

A third added: “It’s Ben and Nina today.”

Meanwhile, Carol Kirkwood gave the latest Easter Monday weather report.

Carol told viewers the week ahead will be ‘unsettled’ with ‘spells of wind and rain’, ‘turning very mild’.

Most recently, BBC Breakfast suffered another presenter shake-up as Jon went missing from screens.

Sally had to front the programme alongside BBC Breakfast resident, Ben.

Jon was nowhere to be seen on the show and no reason for his absence was given.

Ben, 43, is no newcomer to hosting the show and has taken on the role numerous times before.

He has replaced Jon on two further separate occasions during the course of the last two months.

Elsewhere on BBC Breakfast, fans were less than impressed after host Rachel Burden made a major on-air blunder.

The BBC Radio 5 Live anchor, who has been a substitute on BBC Breakfast since 2015, co-hosted the Easter Sunday episode with Ben.

The duo presented extensive coverage of the aftermath of Saturday’s annual Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race, including some of the sickness faced by the crew.

Yet when Rachel accidentally declared Oxford the winners of the Men’s River Thames clash – as opposed to actual champs Cambridge – viewers were quick to call her out.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
