But when the weather finally starts to heat up, there’s one beach in the UK that’s said to warm up the quickest.

According to a study conducted by ParkdeanCamber Sands gets the warmest the quickest in spring, hitting highs of 19C on a warm day.

Located east of Rye, the five-mile stretch of sand is home to the only sand dune system in East Sussex.

During the summer holidays, as many as 30,000 people have been known to visit Camber Sands on a given day.

The beach is also popular with celebrities.

In recent years, Tom and Giovanna Fletcher have been spotted at Camber Sands, while Lisa Faulkner and John Torode were also snapped at the beach back in 2019.

Stretching for five miles, large sections of the beach are covered in fine, gold, sand.

According to the beach guide, the best part of the beach lies at the western end, where the River Rother empties into the sea.

The Sussex Beach is also a popular spot for activities like windsurfing and kitesurfing, so it’s worth packing a windbreak.

Another popular activity at Camber Sands is beachcombing – this is where visitors search for seashells and pieces of driftwood along the shore.

Brit holidaymakers can easily spend a day at Camber Sands, as there is parking, toilets and food stands on the beach.

The sandy beach has been praised by holidaymakers on TripAdvisor.

One person wrote: “A beautiful place, with some lovely holiday homes along the seafront. It’s definitely worth a visit.”

A second person added: “Lovely beach, clean and tidy. Lots of space for children to run and play, and the parking is reasonably priced. Good for walking and exercising dogs.”

Someone else wrote: “Camber Sands and all the close by beaches were excellent . Our dog was in paradise and so were we despite the bracing but refreshing british weather.”

There are plenty of overnight accommodation options in Camber Sands too, including Camber Sands Holiday Park.

Located on the seafront, there’s are plenty of activities at the holiday park, including a high ropes course, virtual reality experiences and adventure golf.

The beach has also been used as a filming location.

This includes the 1958 film Dunkirk, as well as the 1962 war film The Longest Day and George Clooney‘s The Monuments Men film.

TV shows like Doctor Who, After Life and Inbetweeners were also filmed there.

The world’s best beaches

Earlier this year, TripAdvisor named the best beaches in the world and four in the UK made the cut.

Sandbanks Beach in Poole, Dorset was named the world’s most sustainable beach, while Saundersfoot Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales took third place.

Meanwhile, two other beaches in Dorset were named among the top 20 beaches in Europe by TripAdvisor.

Weymouth Beach was named as the nineteenth best beach in Europe, while Bournemouth Beach came in at twentieth.

Sarah Firshein, Head of Editorial at TripAdvisor, said: “The top three beaches are all in Europe, ousting the perennially popular Caribbean from those spots – a sign that some travellers are eager to swap typical resort vacations for the coastlines of PortugalItaly, and beyond.”

Best staycation locations for 2024

1. Bristol

The arty harbour city was the top spot on the list and is bursting with culture and trendy cafes scattered along the River Avon.

A bubbling hub for creatives, Bristol is the birthplace of street artist Banksy, and you can admire some of his best early works on a free walking tour.

2. Hull

The Humberside port city started to get recognition last year, and it has a thriving nightlife scene – if that’s something you’re after.

The old town is crawling with history and classy buildings, whose walls have many stories to tell and The Deep is a fascinating aquarium attraction.

3. Isles of Scilly

Just off the Cornish coast, it’s easy to see why the archipelago made it into the top three.

Here, you can expect golden sandy beaches where you will be able to spot dolphins beyond the shoreline, as well as seafront pubs serving up hearty grub.

If you don’t want to go abroad to enjoy a day at the beach, then a little-known beach has been named the best beach in the UK.

Here’s the UK seaside town which has been voted the cheapest in the country.
